A counselor technician provides
outpatient support and mental health interventions to CW clients as directed by
a Mental Health Primary Care Provider in the individual service plan. Counselor technicians augment therapy and
psychiatric services by providing holistic support to ensure successful living
in the least restrictive environment.
They provide skill building, care coordination, and treatment support to
empower individuals to assume control of their lives. The counselor technician may be assigned to a
specific program at CW or may serve in several programs. The range of mental health interventions
delivered by a counselor technician is established by the individual's
demonstration of skill and knowledge.
Proficiency must be established in order to deliver the service.
Summary of the Essential Duties and
- Crisis Counseling
- Referral and/or
- Location of clients
by phone contact & home outreaches.
- Assistance in
assessment of client's clinical needs.
- Monitoring of LRA's,
to include facilitation of court orders with a variety of community providers
- Crisis Triage
- Facilitation of
- Monitoring of Status
- Overseeing Continuity
- May provide other
clinical services when/as time permits
- Document all
face-to-face contacts in a timely fashion.
- The files shall
document the problems, interventions, and disposition of the case, including
all referrals and termination summaries.
- Be prepared to submit
files to Director for review.
- Document each
telephone contact as soon as possible, but no later than the next working day.
- Provide case
consultation with community services, therapists, family, and nursing homes as
appropriate, and with consumer's written consent.
- Provide information
regarding ITA disposition to individuals and agencies as required by law.
- Assist in triage and
coordination with other staff to provide appropriate levels of response to
requests for assistance.
- Participate in the
Agency's public education programs.
identify program needs and work with Director to enhance and develop programs
and to assure service coverage and continuity of care.
- Be available to
provide crisis intervention outreach services as appropriate. Be continuously
available during periods of coverage, including insuring that his/her location
is known at all times and also he/she can be contacted.
- Provide consultation,
education and training for Center staff and other agencies or individuals as
deemed appropriate by your Director.
- Be under the direct
supervision of the program Director or his or her designee.
- Receive at least one
hour of clinical supervision/consultation per week.
- Participate in an
annual performance evaluation and the development of an individualized training
- Be familiar with laws
and regulations governing emergency services and assist with other job demands
as they occur.
- A counselor
technician must have a high school diploma.
Some college credits and/or a special proficiency preferred
- Registration in the state
of Washington is required upon hire
- The counselor
technician must have a valid Oregon or Washington driver's license and must
clear a multi-state criminal background check
