Some of What You'll Do:

The Contract & Credentialing Specialist coordinates insurance requirements by plan ensuring each department clinical and administrative is informed of all requirements/changes and maximum performance by insurance requirement is achieved. The Specialist will maintain Contract files and communicate directly with the Billing Manager and the Billing Specialist on system set-up requirements and billing changes.

Summary of essential responsibilities:

  • Coordinate payer contracts.
  • Maintain contract files.
  • Communicate contractual changes/requirements
  • Identify deficiencies in work performed under contracts and provide training needed to ensure contract compliance.
  • Ensure agency access and flow are established to maximize reimbursement.
  • Submit credentialing applications.
  • Tracking/monitoring/reporting of contract performance.
  • Review billing reconciliation with billing manager.
  • Participate in annual audit process.
  • Effective use of technology and software including but not limited to: computers, phones, email, EMR, etc.
  • Be helpful, respectful, approachable and team-oriented.
  • Effective time management including but not limited to: planning ahead where possible and be punctual in person and work performed.
  • Build strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
  • Be receptive to feedback, willing to learn, and embrace continuous improvement.
  • Complete all documentation, reporting, and other paperwork per agency standards.
  • Attend all appropriate staff, organizational, and external meetings (as assigned).
  • Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We Require:

  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Programs
  • Proficiency with Netsmart AVATAR a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting and/or Business Administration, or equivalent, is required
  • Three (3) years of billing experience in an office setting 
  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted year for year for education 
  • Knowledge of billing/contracting and collections, billing software, reconciliation of billing accounts, as well as experience with computers and business machines 
  • Applicant must have strong analytical skills and be detail-oriented
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable legal terminology, regulations, and laws

Salary: $21.40 per hour

This position is a part of a union (OPEIU Local 11)
